The Resurrection of Our Lord
Today is the Queen of Feasts on which the Church with surpassing gladness celebrates the Resurrection of her Lord. The joy of the days of Easter Week answers the somberness of the days of Holy Week. In the ancient Church those who had been baptized at the Easter Vigil assembled every day of this week, wearing their while baptismal robes, in thanksgiving for the enlightenment they had received and to learn more about the faith into which they had been incorporated. This practice is reflected in many of the prayers for this Bright Week as the Church gathers in the light of the Resurrection.
In the name of the Father, (+) and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
In the morning: Psalm 93
In the evening: Psalm 136
One or more of the following lessons:
In the morning: Benedictus Dominus Deus

Prayer of the Day
Almighty God, who through your only-begotten Son Jesus Christ overcame death and opened to us the gate of everlasting life: Grant that we, who celebrate with joy the day of the Lord’s resurrection, may be raised from the death of sin by your life-giving Spirit; through your Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.
Pray for the whole Church of God
For her reconciliation and unity
For her health and peace
For the unity of the Church
For her renewal in the Spirit
The Lord almighty bless (+) us, and direct our days and our deeds in his peace.
